Dr Richard Weiler treats all musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries at any age and level of activity and has a particular interest in lower limb and joint rehabilitation following injury or surgery, tendon injuries and groin pain. His focus is on helping patients holistically to return to function and reach their goals. He has wide experience in the non-operative management of sports injuries, rehabilitating athletes of all abilities, from Olympic and Paralympic athletes to International and Premier League footballers, Track & Field athletes, rugby players, cricketers and dancers. He also sees non-athletes with musculoskeletal conditions, such as back and joint pain, assisting their rehabilitation through working closely with healthcare professional teams.

He has worked as a FIFA Medical Officer since Qatar winter World Cup 2022 , including 2 further FIFA World Cups (U20 World Cup Argentina and Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023) and the Paris Olympics 2024. 

He is Lead Doctor at West Ham United Football Club, Chief Medical Officer for British Bobsleigh, has assisted Surrey County Cricket Club 1st team in T20 matches and has worked for Team GB with sliders and skiers at the Pyeongchang 2018 and Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, in between slipping over on live TV himself! 

He is Lead Performance Doctor for England Para Football at the Football Association. He has worked three Paralympic cycles with GB Para Football - London 2012 Paralympics, Preparation Camp Medical Lead Paralympics Rio 2016. He supported British Athletics preparation for Tokyo 2021 Olympics.

Dr Richard Weiler qualified from the University of Bristol in 1999, gained a distinction in his Royal College Membership exams for General Practice and then completed an MSc with distinction in Sports & Exercise Medicine from UCL in 2008. He defended his PhD thesis in 2023 at the Vrije University, Amsterdam on ‘improving para sport concussion care’.
