Dr Markus Laupheimer is a Consultant Sports & Exercise Physician in London with over 17 years' experience in leading sports and musculoskeletal medicine centres worldwide, including the Schulthess Clinic (Switzerland), BUPA Centres of Excellence, and Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital (Qatar).
He earned his MD with distinction from Ulm Medical School researching joint immunology and metal replacements, before qualifying as a GP and Consultant in General Medicine specialising in sports and musculoskeletal medicine. He went on to complete an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University of London.
Markus's career spans elite sport at the highest level. He was part of the medical team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and has also worked as a Sports & MSK Physician for the RAF and the England Football Association, covering the Senior Men's Futsal Team and England's U18/U19/U20 squads. At the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, he served as a Sports Medicine Doctor for Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, and Rowing, and within the Athletes' Village.
Alongside his clinical work, Markus is driven by innovation in regenerative medicine - research that led him to help establish the Orthobiologics Clinic at Aspetar Sports Medicine Department .
