Professor Loftus trained as an academic vascular surgeon in Leicester and moved to St George’s, London to help develop a regional vascular surgery programme. He is now a Professor of Vascular Surgery at St George’s, University of London.
Professor Loftus developed special interests and a large personal experience in the management of entrapment conditions, especially thoracic outlet and popliteal entrapment syndromes. He also has extensive experience in minimally invasive treatments of varicose veins and other vascular conditions.
Professor Loftus is a Past-President of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the British Society for Endovascular Therapy, and the President-Elect of the European Society of Vascular Surgery. Current national roles include Chair of the UK National Vascular Registry Project Board, Deputy-Chair of the National Clinical Reference Group for vascular surgery, Council member and Caldicott Guardian of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
