David Holder

Consultant in Neurophysiology

MA MA PhD FRCP

Professor David Holder is a leading Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology. He undertakes diagnostic tests in neurology - EMG, EEG and nerve conduction studies. 
 

Professor Holder jointly qualified in Clinical Medicine and Biophysics from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and University College Hospital London. He then undertook a Master’s degree in Biophysics at the University of California, Berkeley and a PhD in Physiology at UCL. He held an MRC training fellowship and then Royal Society University Research Fellowship at University College London before taking a position as Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology at the Middlesex Hospital and UCH.

He has lead the Neurophysiology department at University College Hospital, London which undertakes EMG, EEG and nerve conduction studies since 1997.

Research

  • Lead of multidisciplinary neurophysiology/bioengineering research group in Medical Physics at University College London (UCL). This is developing new methods to image function in the brain and nerves mainly using the new technique of Electrical Impedance tomography (EIT). It is currently funded by the Medical Research Council, National Institutes of Health USA, and EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council).
