Chest and rib conditions

Chest (thoracic) conditions can be congenital (born with), developmental (comes on later) or acquired (such as an injury). The chest wall with the ribs, breastbone, muscles and connecting cartilages and ligaments provide the fundamental apparatus for breathing. Pain or discomfort can lead to significant restrictions on daily activities.
