James Singleton

Consultant Knee Surgeon

MBBS MD FRCS(Tr&Orth)

Mr James Singleton is a leading consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising exclusively in knee disorders. He is fellowship trained in both trauma surgery and knee surgery and he provides expert care for knee sports injuries, soft tissue problems and helps patients at all stages of knee arthritis with joint preservation strategies through to osteotomy (knee realignment surgery) and partial and full knee replacement surgery.

Mr Singleton was a consultant at Frimley Park Hospital where in 2017 he established his patient-centred practice with individualised care for all knee problems from sports injuries to arthritis. He retired from his NHS post as a trauma and knee surgeon in 2024 to focus exclusively on knee surgery.

Mr Singleton was a British Army officer as an orthopaedic consultant, having commissioned as a medical student and called time on his military career after 25 years in early 2024. He has published on both civilian and military trauma and has served as an orthopaedic surgeon on operational tours in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

Mr Singleton grew up in Buckinghamshire and moved on from Aylesbury Grammar School to University College London Medical School, graduating in 2002. He completed his orthopaedic surgical training in London and Surrey on the prestigious Southwest Thames rotation. This included two years full time post-doctoral research, culminating in an MD in Bioengineering from Imperial College London in 2016.

When not at work, James loves time at home with his wife and their two boys, coaching his eldest son’s rugby team and (having hung up his rugby boots several years ago) getting out on his road bike in the Surrey Hills and beyond, having completed multiple sportive rides including RideLondon, the Fred Whitton, The Dragon Ride and the Marmotte.
