Mr Ian Hunt
Mr. Ian Hunt is a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon with a highly specialized practice focused exclusively on chest wall deformities and complex rib conditions.
He is one of the very few surgeons in the UK with a practice dedicated entirely to chest wall conditions and receives referrals for both primary and complex or previously treated cases.
He provides expert assessment and treatment for conditions including pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum, rib instability, chest wall trauma, and complex chest wall pain
Mr. Hunt’s approach is centered on careful diagnosis, clear explanation and appropriate treatment.
Not all chest wall conditions require surgery. Many patients benefit from reassurance, monitoring, or structured non-operative management. Where intervention is appropriate, decisions are made on an individual basis, ensuring patients understand their condition, the available options, and expected outcomes.
His aim is to provide clarity and confidence at every stage of care.
Mr. Hunt qualified in Medicine with Distinction from University College London and completed Higher Specialist Training in Cardiothoracic Surgery across leading London centers including St Thomas’, Guy’s, St George’s, the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals.
He undertook advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive thoracic surgery at the University of Alberta, Canada, and has developed his specialist practice through ongoing collaboration with internationally recognized leaders in chest wall surgery.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS C-Th) and holds a substantive Consultant post at St George’s Hospital, London. He also holds honorary roles at specialist centers including the Royal Marsden and Royal Brompton Hospitals and contributes to surgical training as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of London.
Mr. Hunt has assessed and treated thousands of patients with chest wall conditions and has extensive experience managing complex and revision cases.

Our 79,000 sq ft, seven-story, private hospital on Wigmore Street has 39 en-suite inpatient rooms, consultation and treatment rooms, and a physiotherapy suite.
The hospital has a high-spec imaging suite fully equipped with an MRI, CT scanner and X-ray machine. There are three state-of-the-art operating theatres, two anaesthetic rooms and a recovery bay.

Our partnership with Spire St Anthony’s Hospital allows us to provide orthopaedic surgery closer to our clinic. We treat a full range of conditions and perform joint replacement surgery using the latest Mako robotic assisted technology.
