Mr Dan Shaerf

Mr Dan Shaerf is a Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of hand and wrist conditions in both adults and children. He manages traumatic injuries including hand and wrist fractures, scaphoid fractures, tendon and ligament injuries, as well as a wide range of non-traumatic conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, thumb arthritis, wrist arthritis, Dupuytren's disease, ganglion cysts and sports-related hand injuries.

Following completion of three prestigious subspecialty fellowships in orthopaedic and plastic hand and wrist surgery at internationally renowned centres, Mr Shaerf was appointed Consultant Hand and Orthopaedic Surgeon at London North West University Hospitals NHS Trust. He combines the latest evidence-based techniques with a personalised approach, delivering high-quality care tailored to each patient's individual needs.

Mr Shaerf has particular expertise in the management of hand and wrist arthritis, offering both joint-preserving procedures and advanced joint replacement surgery using modern implant technology. He also has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery, peripheral nerve compression, tendon disorders and complex hand trauma.

He believes that surgery is only one part of treatment and strives to manage patients without an operation whenever appropriate. He works closely with highly specialised hand therapists to provide comprehensive rehabilitation, ensuring every patient receives the most appropriate treatment to maximise recovery, whether surgical or non-operative.

He works closely with medical teams supporting Premier League football, professional cricket, tennis, golf, rugby and boxing, helping athletes return safely and efficiently to training and competition following injury.

An enthusiastic educator, Mr Shaerf is passionate about training the next generation of surgeons. In recognition of his commitment to surgical education and mentorship, he was awarded the prestigious Trainer of the Year Award in 2026.

Having personally undergone upper limb surgery following multiple fractures sustained in a road traffic accident, Mr Shaerf appreciates the physical and emotional impact that injury can have.
