Dr Mark Alexander-Williams is a leading private Consultant in Pain Management in London. His medical training started at The London Hospital where he also started his anaesthetic training. He continued as an SHO in Bury St Edmunds before starting as a Registrar in Leicester and the South Trent rotation.
Before becoming a Senior Registrar, he took a year out of clinical work to undertake research on novel routes of opiate administration and the effect of anaesthetic agents on respiratory function. As a senior registrar, he spent a year sabbatical in Melbourne, Australia and as a consultant, he spent a six-month sabbatical in London learning intervention pain techniques.
He is interested in all challenging pain problems. Three-quarters of the referrals he receives are for back pain and sciatica, and he is especially interested in integrating invasive techniques such as radiofrequency lesioning into a biopsychosocial model of care.
