You don’t need to have private medical insurance to access treatment with Fortius consultants. You can choose to pay for yourself, and receive treatment when you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can self-refer to see many of our consultants, though some may still ask for a GP or healthcare professional referral. Our self pay advisors can help guide you through this process. 

Your NHS or private GP should be able to provide this for you, alternatively your consultant may be happy to accept a referral from a physiotherapist or other healthcare provider. 

You will be required to make payment in full, in advance of any diagnostic scans, services or treatments including surgery. 

Payment of the invoice should be made no less than 24 hours prior to appointment, we offer quick and easy ways to pay so you can settle any outstanding balance:

  • Online, via the Fortius Patient Portal
  • Fortius Express Pay – After your appointment you will receive a link via SMS and email, which will allow you to make a secure and immediate payment
  • Speak with our dedicated billing team on +44 (0)203 195 2442 and choose option 2. Please note, the billing team phoneline is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
  • Via bank transfer

We accept cash, cheques and all major credit cards including American Express. Please note we retain the right to refuse services if payment is not made in advance. In accordance with Money Laundering Regulations, 2007 we are unable to accept cash payments in excess of £8,800, an alternative method of payment will be required.

Your card details will be securely stored for ease of payment in the future. Fortius retain the right to withdraw funds for any necessary additional charges using these details if payment is not provided within the given time frame.

We can accept cash or cheque payments, provided they are received by us no later than 48hrs prior to surgery. 
In accordance with Money Laundering Regulations 2007 we are unable to accept cash payments in excess of £8,800. An alternative method of payment will be required.

At the moment we are unable to offer any finance payment options, however this is something we're looking into and hope to offer to patients before too long. 

Should you require further treatment following your procedure, this will not be included in the original package price. Your consultant will make a diagnosis and recommendation of any further treatment needed and this will be subject to standard self pay charges.

The above fixed price packages are for the hospital facility fee. This includes 

  • Pre-operative assessment
  • Nursing care
  • Accommodation
  • Patient food
  • In-theatre imaging
  • Standard prothesis & standard theatre consumables
  • Inpatient physiotherapy.

The quoted treatment prices on the website do not include:

  • Surgeon & Anaesthetist fees
  • New and follow up consultations with your consultant 
  • Post-operative consultation and any associated clinic costs, including specialist braces or any necessary post-opdiagnostics.
  • Outpatient physiotherapy
  • Family/friends overnight accommodation costs
  • Personal expenses - telephone calls, additional catering, or other personal consumables
  • Relatives/visitor meals

If any additional services are required such as specialist grafts/prosthesis, these will be charged in addition to the packaged rate.
