Skiers and Snowboarders now have access to some of the best specialist surgeons in the UK through the Fortius Clinic Ski Injuries Service.
Top athletes have always had access to the very best treatment when it comes to sports injuries, but now there is dedicated centre in the heart of London to help skiers and snowboarders recover from an injury sustained on the slopes.
The brand new service is aimed at winter sports enthusiasts of all abilities who require treatment for some of the most common afflictions sustained as a result of snow sports. These include knee injuries such as ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) rupture, ‘snowboarders’ ankle, wrist fractures and shoulder dislocations.
Fortius Clinic has in-house imaging facilities including top of the range X-Ray, MRI and Ultrasound equipment so treatment is fast and effective, ensuring that normal life, work and sports resume as rapidly as possible.
This is key to professional people who simply can’t afford time away from their business.
Some of the UK’s very best Orthopaedic Surgeons work at the Fortius Clinic and this has attracted high profile skiers such as Konrad Bartelski (former British number one downhill ski racer) and British ski racing sisters Natalia and Giulia Harte.
Konrad said, ‘I found out that I had not been fully extending my left knee and lost stability and endurance as a result. I visited Sam Church at the Fortius Clinic and just eight days after the surgery I was back on my bicycle, and immediately noticed a huge improvement in the knee.
‘My experience of the service was that it was fast, efficient and my knee feels so much better and stronger.’

There are over 30 consultants working at the Fortius Clinic, including nine specialist knee surgeons who treat a wide range of injuries that include ACL damage, MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) sprains and meniscal tears. Consultant Knee Surgeon, Sam Church, treats many sports people, both professional and amateur, and sees a large number of ski related injuries during the winter. ‘Although we’ve been handling skiing injuries for some time, we’ve now set up our specialist ski clinic to provide rapid availability and access to specialists, said Sam. ‘Apart from our team of nine knee surgeons, we also have surgeons who specialise in shoulder & elbow, foot & ankle and hand & wrist surgery working throughout the busy winter period, supported by specialist physicians and radiologists.’
Ski injuries are often stabilised in-resort and treated back home in the UK. This means the process of recovery is taken from the initial consultation period, right through to the final rehabilitation stage, helping to ensure a high success rate and a more consistent approach to treatment.
Editors Notes: Fortius Clinic provides specialist, private care for orthopaedic and sports injuries with some of the most experienced consultants in the UK.
